María Barragán nació en Huelva en Septiembre de 1980. A los 22 años se había licenciado un Comunicación Audiovisual y estaba estudiando producción en la Escuela de cine de Madrid (ECAM). Al finalizar sus estudios dedicó varios años a trabajar en rodajes de cine, televisión, y sobre todo de publicidad, lo que le permitió viajar por toda la península y conocer numerosas producciones desde dentro. En 2010 volvió al sur y decidió rehacer su vida laboral en este nuevo contexto. Tras ser madre se decantó por la enseñanza y probó varios cursos de cine y otras materias en Huelva. Gracias a esos cursos conoció a distintas personas que estaban realizando proyectos audiovisuales en Huelva y le encargaron la dirección de producción de muchos de ellos. En 2014 se decide a dar el salto a la dirección, escribiendo, dirigiendo y protagonizando “(Re) encuentro” (2015), su ópera prima, que recoge aspectos y vivencias personales de una de las últimas etapas de su vida hasta aquel momento. En 2016, decide repetir experiencia y escribe, dirige y vuelve a protagonizar otro cortometraje, “La mujer del espejo” (2017), un poema audiovisual que habla de la búsqueda personal y de la importancia de la auto aceptación y autoestima para encontrar la felicidad.

María Barragán was born in Huelva in September 1980. At age 22 she graduated in audiovisual communication and was studying production at the Escuela de Cine de Madrid (ECAM). When she finished, she spent several years working on filmings, mostly advertising. this enabled her to travel all across the peninsula and learn about film productions from the inside. In 2010 she returned to the south of Spain and decided to refashion her work profile to that new environment. After she became a mother, she started teaching and gave several filming courses in huelva a try. Through those courses she met various people who were involved in audiovisual projects in huelva and she was entrusted with the production direction of several of them. In 2014 she decided to take a leap at direction by writing, directing and starring “(Re) union” (2015), her debut as a director, portraying some of her latest life experiences. In 2016 she decided to repeat the experience and wrote, directed and starred another short film called “The woman in the mirror” (2017), an audiovisual poem about the personal searching, and the importance of aknowledgement and self-esteem to be happy.
